Bad news. I assumed that Amazon would be shipping them out early, because Amazon is normally pretty good about that stuff but I sent them an email to confirm and got this back:

Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I have checked into the promotional offer on the manufacturer's website. While Amazon.com is an authorized dealer of EverQuest II Sentinel's Fate we are not a participating dealer for this particular promotion.

I do apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. If you have any further questions about this offer, you may wish to contact the manufacturer directly or you can purchase the item from Gamestop to get that headstart.

While we are planning a variety of special discounts and other promotional offers, I am unable to share these details.

I encourage you to check back on our website in the next few weeks. Any special offers will be advertised throughout our website.

Again, I am sorry that we are unable to honor this promotion. Please be assured that we value your business and hope that you will honor us with the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

I think they didn't understand what you're talking about.

Amazon is being given the retail boxes with a date they can have them arrive in people's hands, the 16th of Feb.

But... the communication between the retailers and SOE is apparently pretty crappy and the understanding of the retailers is shit and the communication between the retailers and customers is extremely confused.

Amazon is listing the "release date" as the headstart date.

I went ahead and finally ordered mine, jsut to check on the shipping charges:

You know, I figured the "release" was 2/22, but wasn't able to find anything to confirm it. Thanks Rjack.

I'm in California and there are no shipping charges for me.. dunno if that's true for anyone else.

It might have been easier for SOE to tell the retailers it releases on the 16th to get them to guarantee arrival on the 16th.

I'm still trying to decide if I want the retail box for my 2nd account. Technically my primary is flagged for the basic retail box 'cause I went to Fan Faire, but... I'll be using the collector's edition on my main account 'cause I do want the mount, darn it :)

We were going to be getting 1 collector's ed for the house 'cause I want the DvD, too.
